MyMerkato is a platform for the East African and broader immigrant community to connect, trade, support one another, and celebrate together. Treat each other with respect and dignity.
Honest Listings
• Describe items and services accurately • Use real photos of the actual item • List honest prices - no bait-and-switch • Mark items sold when no longer available • No duplicate listings
Providers Directory
• Only list categories, rates, and availability you can genuinely deliver on • Keep your "available now" status honest - toggle it off when you're not actually free • Respond to interested buyers in good faith and in reasonable time • Answer the "licensed for this service" field honestly - falsely claiming a license is a Prohibited Content violation • Don't misrepresent insurance or experience • Honor a quoted rate estimate or clearly explain any change before starting work
Shops & Products
• Describe every product, including its condition and any allergens, accurately • Keep stock status (in stock / out of stock) up to date • No counterfeit, stolen, recalled, or unsafe items • If you offer delivery, be clear about your area, fee, and timing • Honor your own stated return/refund terms
Roommate Finder
• Be honest about the room, lease terms, house rules, and move-in date • Never discriminate based on a legally protected characteristic • Meet and view the space in person before any money changes hands • Report any suspicious or scam-like roommate post
Events
• Post only real events you organize or are affiliated with • Include accurate date, time, and location • Events require admin approval • Don't use events to solicit money • Update or remove cancelled events
Care Fund
• Only request help for genuine needs • Provide accurate information • No fraudulent or duplicate requests • Donations are voluntary - never pressure anyone • Funds are paid directly via third-party apps
Meet People
• Be honest - real photos and accurate info • Respect others: mutual consent before connecting • No unsolicited or inappropriate messages • No commercial solicitation or scams • Report harassment immediately
Prohibited Content
Strictly prohibited: weapons or ammunition; illegal drugs; stolen, counterfeit, or recalled goods; adult/explicit material; hate speech or discrimination; anything unlawful; scams or phishing; false Care Fund requests; misrepresenting your identity, licensing, or insurance as a provider.
Respectful Communication
• No harassment, threats, or abuse • No spam • Act in good faith - if not interested, simply don't respond • Report suspicious behavior
Privacy of Others
• Don't share others' contact info without consent • Don't post photos/videos of people without permission • Don't dox or expose private information
Verification
Verified members have submitted identity documents and been approved at a point in time. Verification increases trust but does not guarantee safety, current conduct, licensing, insurance, or good character - always use your own judgment. Before hiring a provider or meeting anyone through MyMerkato, take a moment to satisfy yourself that they're genuine and that the interaction feels safe: verify identity and any claimed license yourself, agree on details in chat first, meet in a public place where you can, and tell someone you trust your plans. If anything ever feels threatening, dishonest, or unsafe, trust that instinct, end the interaction, and involve local law enforcement if needed - then report it to us so we can act on your account.
Enforcement
Violations may result in content removal, suspension, or a permanent ban. Serious violations (fraud, illegal activity) will be reported to law enforcement.
Reporting
Report violations to support@f2yapps.com with the listing ID or username. We review reports within 48 hours.
