Our Community
MyMerkato is a platform for the East African and broader immigrant community to connect, trade, support one another, and celebrate together. Treat each other with respect and dignity.
Honest Listings
• Describe items and services accurately • Use real photos of the actual item • List honest prices - no bait-and-switch • Mark items sold when no longer available • No duplicate listings
Events
• Post only real events you organize or are affiliated with • Include accurate date, time, and location • Events require admin approval • Don't use events to solicit money • Update or remove cancelled events
Care Fund
• Only request help for genuine needs • Provide accurate information • No fraudulent or duplicate requests • Donations are voluntary - never pressure anyone • Funds are paid directly via third-party apps
Meet People
• Be honest - real photos and accurate info • Respect others: mutual consent before connecting • No unsolicited or inappropriate messages • No commercial solicitation or scams • Report harassment immediately
Prohibited Content
Strictly prohibited: weapons or ammunition; illegal drugs; stolen or counterfeit goods; adult/explicit material; hate speech or discrimination; anything unlawful; scams or phishing; false Care Fund requests.
Respectful Communication
• No harassment, threats, or abuse • No spam • Act in good faith - if not interested, simply don't respond • Report suspicious behavior
Privacy of Others
• Don't share others' contact info without consent • Don't post photos/videos of people without permission • Don't dox or expose private information
Verification
Verified members have submitted identity documents and been approved. Verification increases trust but does not guarantee safety - always use your own judgment.
Enforcement
Violations may result in content removal, suspension, or a permanent ban. Serious violations (fraud, illegal activity) will be reported to law enforcement.
Reporting
Report violations to support@f2yapps.com with the listing ID or username. We review reports within 48 hours.
